All businesses regardless of size or sector use energy within everyday processes. Historically, energy costs have been taken for granted, but now they are rising fast and the carbon emissions they cause are contributing to climate change. At the same time, with the increased focus on carbon impacts, it is important to be able to understand where carbon is embedded in your business, ranging from energy and fuel consumption to waste to even material and water use. You will learn:
Energy is taken for granted as a prerequisite of doing almost anything and has been assumed to be the source of a business’ carbon emissions. While a big focus is on energy management due in no small part to the significant rise in energy and fuel prices carbon emissions arise from a range of operations.
Everybody is involved. However, this course is aimed at those in the organisation given particular responsibility for energy and carbon management and feeding that into the environmental policy and performance of the organisation. Energy and material costs are rising fast and becoming an important variable in the budgeting of activity. Taking an informed approach will enable better management of risks in both energy supply and resource management and will identify cost savings and future proofing measures that will inform future energy and carbon strategy.
