Since we last wrote, the price of oil has approached $120 per barrel, the spotlight has picked on the debatable environmental benefits of bio-fuels and we have seen apocalyptic EU and UN forecasts on the political fallout of an impending Third World food crisis. Things are moving a lot faster than we find culturally convenient. Expect more of the same. To the optimist change offers opportunities but we are all involved one way or another.

As EU top foreign policy-makers recognise Climate Change and its impacts as an essential security issue, the UK echoes the view in its first ever National Security Policy published on 19^th March 2008.

With Energy Performance Certification now being compulsory on all commercial buildings with more than 10,000m² (with effect from April), there is going to be a new metric to add to the total cost of occupation of any building.

We are delighted that Vitacress Salads, leading producers of organic and conventional fresh prepared salads, won the SEEDA Sustainable Business – Environment Award sponsored by the Environment Agency on 6^th March 2008. Based at Alresford, Hampshire and with facilities in Portugal and Spain, Vitacress gained ISO14001 accreditation in 2005 after working with Olive to implement their management system...read more
