The UK's Chief Scientific Advisor, Professor John Beddington, has widened the debate on the future sustainability of our way of life beyond just the threat of carbon dioxide and global warming.</b><br /><br /> For once this isn't all about climate change, though it plays its part. Instead, the focus is on a rising global population's growing demand for resources that are in increasingly short supply. The key three that head the list are water, energy sources and food. However, challenging though the message may be, we take comfort that it is being raised at appropriate government levels. These should generate significant financial and other benefits as travel represents a significant overhead, and much of this is not restricted to direct vehicle costs.
